Why this trip

Not a trek.
Not a rush. The easy one.

Bir is the mountain trip with nothing to prove. You unpack once and stay put, fly down from Billing, widely billed as the world's second-highest paragliding site, then spend the rest of the time at your own pace.

Sherabling Monastery and the tea estates on a relaxed first day, sunset at the landing site as the gliders come in, an evening cycling through Bir, and Chokling Monastery and the Tibetan Colony on the last morning. Every night ends back at the stay with a bonfire, tribe circle, party and games.

The Bir story

A town that
lives in the sky.

Bir is where Billing's ridge meets a quiet valley town. Gliders drift down all day and settle at the landing site, and you can sit with a coffee and watch them come in.

The pace here is the point: two monasteries, tea estates, Tibetan Colony lanes, long café afternoons and an easy evening ride. One base, no packing and unpacking, no treks, and comfortable overnight travel both ways.

The slow side

Prayer flags,
tea & long afternoons.

Between the flight and the bonfires, Bir is about the unhurried parts: two monasteries, the tea estates, and the Tibetan Colony lanes on the way out.
