A valley most tourists
never reach.
Gurez sits beyond the Razdan Pass, close to the Line of Control, and stayed closed to outside travellers for years. It's home to the Dard-Shina community, a tribal culture rarely seen elsewhere in Kashmir, living along the Kishanganga River beneath Habba Khatoon Peak.
The peak takes its name from Habba Khatoon, the sixteenth-century poet-queen of Kashmir — her story is woven into Day 3, alongside real time in Dawar village and a silent walk along the river, not staged photo stops.
